2012 Cannondale CAAD10 4 Compact

Benefit from the culmination of Cannondale's years of aluminum framebuilding experience with their thoroughbred CAAD10 4. Their expertly crafted frame is impressively light, stiff in all the right places and amazingly efficient, meaning all your pedal power turns into forward momentum. And, up front, Cannondale's Speed carbon fork with a tapered steerer deftly carves the corners and damps vibrations to smooth rough roads. This fine bike boasts excellent components, too, from the easy-rolling Fulcrum wheels, to the hill-flattening SRAM Rival 20-speed compact drivetrain and powerful brakes, to the Cannondale bar, stem and seatpost and comfortable Prologo seat.

Features and Information

  • View the geometry chart.
  • This frame’s head tube is 1 1/4 inches in diameter at the bottom and 1 1/8 inches at the top. This maximizes front-end stiffness for awesome steering precision and control, while allowing the use of standard 1 1/8-inch stems and not adding much weight.

Stiff and responsive when you mash on the pedals. Compliant enough over the bumps to take on longer rides 70+ mile rides. Great bang for your buck. Wish we could get the brushed aluminum color too, but that only came in the women's specific model.

    Comments:

I bought this CAAD 10 4 about a week and a half ago and I couldn't be any happier. Just competed in my first sprint triathlon and I was flyin by my fellow competitors with tri bikes 2-3x as expensive. Weighing in at about 17.5 lbs w/pedals (my salesperson weighed it in front of me), this bike is lighter than many of the carbon frame bikes out there- & cheaper! The bike is very stiff, handles well, and descends quickly. I absolutely love the SRAM Double Tap shifters-so much easier to use than the 2 lever sort. If you're looking for the best "bang for your buck" deal, this is it!...[...]

    Comments:

So you're wondering if this a good bike? Put it this way, I've owned a full carbon Giant TCR composite and a carbon Cannondale Synapse in the past, and neither one was in the same category as this one. This thing is very snappy, responsive and descends like a dream. Obviously, Cannondale had to come up with a stellar frame to improve on the legendary CAAD9 design, and in my opinion they have. Something to consider with this particular model (CAAD10 4) is the carbon Force cranks. That in conjunction with the BB30 bottom bracket make for super solid platform. The only negative I would say is that since it's an aluminum frame, you'll feel the really big bumps on the road more than a carbon ride. But that's a very small price to pay when you consider that this machine can easily go up against 3k carbon bikes.

    Comments:

Just got my first road bike about a month ago and I Love it! It rides like a dream. The bike is lightweight and fast – it almost feels like carbon. I was riding a performance hybrid to commute to work and participate in some Olympic distance triathlons. I really liked my Trek 7.3 fx – but the CAAD 10-4 blows that bike out off the road. I have probably increased my speed by 2.5-3.0 mph and pedaling is soooo much easier. I have only been able to put about 250 miles on it due to rain and cold weather. I can't wait to start riding to work 15 miles every day this summer while suckers are paying $4+/gallon of gas. Go to a bike shop test ride this bike and don't hesitate to make this purchase. I think that I am going to upgrade the tires and the seat and slap some aero bars on it! 1/2 ironman this summer here I come!
